The Best of 2018
With 2018 winding down, Rod and I want to thank all of the amazing couples we worked with this year. We've had an exciting year and it's all because of the people and communities we get to work with.
Building on our successes over the last eight years, we kept growing and giving back to the community while also giving Alberta couples amazing nights to remember for a lifetime.
Last year, we committed to donate $15 from every gig to Aspen Family Services and another $15 to a charity that’s important to our clients. We continued the tradition in 2018. Last week, we signed the cheques and donated $300 to charities including Aspen Family Services, Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society, Calgary Science Centre Society, Ovarian Cancer Canada, Cultural Connections Institute - The Learning Exchange, and HumboldtStrong. In addition, we donated 32-hours of our services to local charities to help make their events one-of-a-kind and memorable. We also continue to be part of local organizations (REAP and Alberta’s Promise), use as many local suppliers as possible, and take steps to reduce our paper waste and carbon emissions.
All that said, we’re also growing smaller as a company. Rod has decided to step back from DJing to focus on other hobbies. He will still help at select gigs, but won’t be around all of the time. Nerd vs Geek DJ Services will still commit to deliver the same level of fantastic and memorable nights.
Before signing off, I have one request: Please comment on this post and let me know what piece of advice you would love to give couples getting married in 2019. I may use some responses in a blog post in the new year! If you don’t have any advice, what would you have like to know in regards to music for your wedding that I could address in a blog?
Best wishes for 2019!
